Prom season is here. This is a shot from a shoot this weekend with a friends daughter and her friends before prom. Preface: no they are not drinking alcohol of course it's sparkling white grape juice, duh.

Theme: Garden Party
Challenge: 11 kids - and daylight balancing flash and sunlight. The later of which I have no real practice with.

Strobist: 1 SB600 @ 1/2pwr + 1/4 CTO gel into 5ft reflective brolly camera right opposing sun from the back. Also, a p153 ND filter to knock down the f-stop for depth of field.

Lesson Learned: This was not enough balancing in my opinion and should have been bumped to full power or brought in closer. Biggest lesson: slow down slow down slow down... I got a bit into a rush and neglected to check test shots in my iPad... my LCD was pretty useless in this sunlight. Anyone have a tip on how to better read the LCD and or histogram in this situation? iPad was right there could have quickly downloaded test shots but didn't. I paid dearly for that in post :(
